A peer-to-peer retreat for impact investors and asset owners – bringing together a mix of leaders rarely found in the same room to learn from one another, deepen self-awareness, and examine the beliefs, experiences, and motivations that shape how we think about capital.

We invite you to our second annual Leadership Retreat, taking place this October 1st and 2nd in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.

You will be joining an intimate gathering of about 50 investors and philanthropists; senior leaders from foundations, family offices, faith-based organizations; and other mission-aligned asset owners and ecosystem leaders.

If you were part of last year’s gathering, you know what makes this space different. The honesty in the room. The willingness to sit with discomfort. The conversations that kept going long after the sessions ended. We’re building on that foundation. This year, we’re going deeper into the question at the heart of our work together: how do we relate to capital, and what shifts when we bring more honesty, awareness, and discernment to that relationship? Impact investing asks us to align capital with values. But rarely do we create space to examine the deeper patterns – relational, emotional, and systemic – that shape how we actually make those decisions. This retreat is designed to close that gap.

Set in the picturesque forests at the base of Mont Sutton, the retreat will weave together themes that reflect the interconnected realities our community is navigating:

  • Reflecting on the responsibility of (and opportunities for) Canadian asset owners in this “hinge moment” of nation-building
  • Learning from Quebec’s social economy ecosystem, as a case example of coordination and collaboration for economic sovereignty, community resilience, and social well-being
  • Developing the capacity, conviction, and other skills needed to shift mental models and lead the systems change necessary to create better outcomes and brighter futures for our communities

We are intentionally designing a retreat, not a conference – that means prioritizing connection before content, inner work as infrastructure, and collective sense-making over individual takeaways – with the added depth of a community that’s already begun this work together.

    FACILITATION

Most gatherings in this field focus on deals, data, and frameworks. This retreat starts somewhere else: with the people in the room and their relationship to capital itself.

We cannot change the system without first changing our own narratives, fears, beliefs, values, and protective strategies around capital and wealth. Our retreat will be guided by Chantel Chapman and Taylor Fox from the The Trauma of Money™ (TOM) Institute, whose work is grounded in nervous system science, financial psychology, and how lived experience, conditioning, and systemic forces shape our financial and investment decision-making.

Chantel and Taylor will draw on TOM’s ever-evolving curriculum, including their new Human-Centered Financial Method™, which explores the human, relational and systemic dynamics that shape wealth, leadership, and the Great Wealth Transfer. It speaks to a genuine desire to align our capital with our values, and relate to money and wealth with greater agency, discernment, and care.

Chantel Chapman is the Founder & CEO of The Trauma of Money™ Institute and a recognized leader at the intersection of financial psychology, behavioural science, and systems change. She is the bestselling author of The Trauma of Money: Mapping Compassionate Pathways to Healing Financial Trauma and Disempowering Financial Shame, a body of work that has reshaped how thousands of practitioners around the world engage with money in their personal lives, their organizations, and the systems they work within. With over 20 years of experience across financial education, fintech, and curriculum design, Chantel has worked with universities, financial institutions, nonprofits, Indigenous-led organizations, and global capacity-building bodies to translate behavioural science and financial psychology into practical, programmatic interventions.

Taylor Fox is a Faculty Member & Facilitator at The Trauma of Money™ Institute. Taylor is an Anishinaabe strategist working at the intersection of Indigenous economic sovereignty, impact investing, and capital design. She is Investment Principal at the EntrepreNorth Sinew Impact Fund, and holds an Executive MBA in Indigenous Business Leadership from SFU, where her capstone research examined economic wellbeing for Indigenous wealthholders. Her work spans investment strategy, facilitation, and communications, grounded in Indigenous values of reciprocity and stewardship. She is currently exploring pathways to support Indigenous Futurism within the broader economic story of Indigenous people.
